You start with an Ante bet. You're dealt two hole cards face-up; the dealer gets two face-down. Three community cards (the flop) are dealt face-up. You now choose: Fold (lose your Ante, round over) or Call (place an extra bet worth 2× your Ante). If you Call, the turn and river are dealt, then the dealer reveals. Your best 5-card hand from your 2 + the 5 community is compared to the dealer's. The dealer needs a pair of fours or better to qualify — without qualification your Ante is paid on the pay table and your Call bet pushes back to you, whatever the two hands are.
Rule fix — 2026-09-12
Until 2026-09-12, ranked Casino Hold'em settled one case against this rule: when the dealer did not qualify and your hand was lower, you lost both the Ante and the Call, and when the hands tied it was a plain push — instead of the Ante paid on the pay table and the Call returned. Ranked hands now settle by the rule above, the way the unranked table already did.

The Ante pays on this table whenever it wins: when the dealer does not qualify — then your hand alone sets the payout, even if the dealer's hand is better — or when you beat a qualifying dealer. When to Call, When to Fold
Optimal strategy calls roughly 82% of hands and folds only the bottom 18% — no pair, no draw, weak high card.
